Biography:
Abi Lufadeju is an award-winning Music Lawyer and Legal & Business Affairs Manager. Abi’s journey in music is unique, from artist to legal expert. Abi graduated with a law degree in 2012, followed by completing the Legal Practice Course and a Master‚Äôs degree in 2014, qualifying as a Solicitor in 2016. Abi’s exceptional talent and dedication were recognised in 2017 when she won the prestigious Lawyer (Rising Star) of the Year (Under 30) Award at the Young Music Boss Awards. Her commitment to education and empowerment in the music industry is evident.
Personal Statement:
As an artist, founder and music executive, I bring a unique dual perspective that bridges creativity and strategy within the independent music ecosystem. My journey from performer to music business leader has equipped me with deep insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by independent rightsholders - from artist development and funding to rights management and international growth.
I bring expertise in copyright, publishing, and label operations, as well as hands-on experience building partnerships across the UK, Africa, and the US. My work focuses on empowering independent talent through sustainable business models, innovative marketing, and equitable rights management.
I am passionate about shaping a fairer, more inclusive music industry and ensuring that independent voices thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. I would contribute strategic insight, creative innovation, and legal acumen to AIM’s mission - helping to drive initiatives around education, diversity, and global collaboration.
My goal is to strengthen AIM’s role as a driving force for independent excellence, ensuring our community not only adapts to change but leads it.
